Charlie Janssen announces his candidacy for Nebraska
Legislature
June 21, 2007
Fremont City Councilman Charlie Janssen has announced that
he will seek Dodge County’s seat in the State Legislature.
“I want to be part of the movement that limits government,
offers tax relief and controls state spending,” said Janssen. “I have been
urged to run for this seat and I want to serve. I think I have a lot to offer
the citizens of Dodge County, said Janssen.
Janssen has been pleased with the overwhelming support he
has received from business leaders and elected officials in Dodge County. “I
have a connection to Dodge County that is unique. Having been raised in
Nickerson, I know what it is like to live in a small village. I now own a
business (RTG Medical) and live in Fremont. This gives me a perspective that can
be shared by both the very rural parts of Dodge County and with Fremont. I saw
first-hand how a Village ran while my mother was the village clerk in Nickerson
for over twenty years. For many of those years the village clerk’s office was
our home. Now serving as a Fremont City Councilman I have first-hand knowledge
of how one of Nebraska’s largest and best cities operates” Janssen said.
Janssen was born in Fremont and raised in nearby Nickerson.
He graduated from Logan View High School in 1989 and immediately joined the US
Navy as a Search and Rescue Swimmer. Janssen was awarded the Combat Action
Ribbon for his efforts in the Persian Gulf War. After four years of military
service he attended and graduated from Wayne State College. He and wife, Dr.
Misty Janssen, currently reside in Fremont with their four year old son, Charlie
Jr. and six month old daughter Betsy Anne.
